The Persuaders were an American soul vocal group formed in the early 1970s. The group consisted of five members: Douglas "Smokey" Scott, Willie Holland, Charles Stodghill, Richard Thompson, and Robert Poindexter. They are best known for their hit single "Thin Line Between Love and Hate," which was released in 1971 and reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart and number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by the group's lead singer, Robert "Bobby" Poindexter, along with producer Richard "Richie" Thompson.
The Persuaders continued to release music throughout the 1970s, with several of their songs charting on the R&B charts. Despite not achieving the same level of commercial success as their debut single, they are still remembered as an influential soul group of the era. The Persuaders' music has been sampled by various artists over the years, contributing to their legacy in the music industry.
