The Pipes and Drums and the Military Band of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards is a musical ensemble associated with the British Army. They are known for their traditional Scottish music, particularly featuring the bagpipes and drums. The band was formed in 1971 by the amalgamation of two famous Scottish regiments, the Royal Scots Greys and the 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards), hence the name "Royal Scots Dragoon Guards."


Their most famous recording is the instrumental rendition of "Amazing Grace," which was released in 1972 and became a major international hit. The album featuring this track, called "Spirit of the Glen," went on to become the best-selling pipe band album of all time. The band has continued to perform and record music, showcasing their unique blend of Scottish military and folk music to audiences worldwide.
