Artist Bio:
The Platters were an American vocal group formed in 1952. They were one of the most successful R&B groups of the early rock and roll era. The original members were Tony Williams, David Lynch, Alex Hodge, Herb Reed, and Paul Robi. Their distinctive sound combined lead singer Tony Williams' powerful and emotive voice with the harmonies of the other members.

The Platters are best known for their hits such as "Only You," "The Great Pretender," and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. The group went through multiple lineup changes over the years but continued to perform and record music until the late 2010s.
