Artist Bio:
The Platters were an American vocal group formed in 1952 in Los Angeles, California. They were one of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock and roll era. The original members were Tony Williams, David Lynch, Alex Hodge, Herb Reed, and Zola Taylor. Over the years, there were several lineup changes, but the group continued to produce hits and perform for decades.

The Platters are best known for their classic songs such as "Only You," "The Great Pretender," and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. The Platters had a unique sound that blended rhythm and blues with pop, and their music continues to be celebrated and remembered as an important part of music history.
