They were one of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock and roll era, known for their smooth and soulful harmonies. The original members of the group were Tony Williams, David Lynch, Paul Robi, Alex Hodge, and Herb Reed.


The Platters scored several hits in the 1950s and 1960s, including classics like "Only You," "The Great Pretender," and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. Despite several changes in the lineup over the years, The Platters continued to perform and tour, captivating audiences with their timeless music and iconic sound.
