The Police were a British rock band formed in London in 1977. The band consisted of lead vocalist and bassist Sting, guitarist Andy Summers, and drummer Stewart Copeland. They were known for their energetic live performances and a distinctive sound that blended elements of rock, punk, and reggae.
The Police achieved international success with hits like "Roxanne," "Every Breath You Take," and "Message in a Bottle." They were one of the defining bands of the new wave era and are considered one of the greatest bands of all time. The Police disbanded in 1986 but have reunited for occasional performances since then, including a world tour in 2007-2008.
