The band was originally known as Paul Revere and the Raiders, with Paul Revere as the leader and founder of the group.

They released a series of successful singles and albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The band went through various lineup changes over the years but maintained a loyal fan base. The Raiders were inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2007 in recognition of their contributions to the music industry.
