The Rationals were an American garage rock band from Ann Arbor, Michigan, formed in 1964. The original lineup consisted of Scott Morgan (vocals), Steve Correll (guitar), Terry Trabandt (bass), and Bill Figg (drums). They gained popularity in the mid-1960s with their energetic live performances and a sound that blended rock, soul, and R&B influences.
The Rationals released several singles and one full-length album, including their most well-known song "Respect" in 1966. The band was known for their tight musicianship and Morgan's powerful vocals. Despite their talent and local success, The Rationals struggled to achieve national recognition and disbanded in 1970. However, they left a lasting impact on the garage rock scene and have since gained a cult following among fans of 1960s rock music.
