The Rip Chords were an American vocal group formed in 1962. The group was originally composed of Phil Stewart and Ernie Bringas. They are best known for their 1964 hit single "Hey Little Cobra," which peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by Carol Connors and her brother Marcy Levy, who were both members of the group at the time.
The Rip Chords released several other singles throughout the 1960s, including "Three Window Coupe" and "One Piece Topless Bathing Suit." The group's music was characterized by its surf rock sound and catchy harmonies. Despite their initial success, The Rip Chords disbanded in the late 1960s but their music continues to be enjoyed by fans of the surf rock genre.
