The Romantics are an American rock band formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1977. The band's original lineup consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Wally Palmar, guitarist and vocalist Mike Skill, bassist and vocalist Rich Cole, and drummer and vocalist Jimmy Marinos. They are best known for their hit songs "What I Like About You" and "Talking in Your Sleep", which both achieved commercial success in the 1980s.

The Romantics gained popularity for their energetic live performances and catchy, power-pop sound. They were part of the new wave and power pop movements of the 1980s, blending elements of punk rock with a more melodic and accessible sound. The band continues to perform and tour, with various lineup changes over the years, but still featuring original members Wally Palmar and Mike Skill.
