Artist Bio:
The Royal Guardsmen are an American rock band known for their novelty songs, particularly their 1966 hit "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron." The band was formed in 1966 in Ocala, Florida, and originally consisted of Bill Balough, John Burdett, Chris Nunley, Tom Richards, and Billy Taylor.
The Royal Guardsmen's most famous song, "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron," reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and sold over one million copies. The band followed up with a series of songs about Snoopy and his adventures, including "The Return of the Red Baron" and "Snoopy's Christmas." Despite their success with Snoopy-themed songs, The Royal Guardsmen struggled to replicate their initial hit and eventually disbanded in the early 1970s.
