Artist Bio:
The Royal Guardsmen are an American rock band known for their hits in the 1960s, particularly their novelty song "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" released in 1966. The band was formed in Ocala, Florida, in 1966 and consisted of members Barry Winslow, Chris Nunley, Tom Richards, Billy Taylor, and John Burdett. Their song "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" reached the number two spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was one of several songs they recorded with a Snoopy theme.
The Royal Guardsmen continued to release music throughout the late 1960s, with varying degrees of success. They recorded several other songs inspired by the Snoopy character, such as "The Return of the Red Baron" and "Snoopy's Christmas." While they never achieved the same level of success as they did with their first Snoopy-themed hit, The Royal Guardsmen remain known for their contributions to the novelty rock genre.
