The Salsoul Orchestra was a 1970s American disco and soul band created by Vincent Montana Jr. The group was formed in 1974 in New York City and was renowned for its fusion of funk, soul, and Latin music elements. The Salsoul Orchestra released several successful albums during the disco era, including "Nice 'N' Naasty" and "Up the Yellow Brick Road".


The band's self-titled debut album, released in 1975, featured their biggest hit, "Tangerine," which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Salsoul Orchestra was known for their energetic live performances and innovative use of orchestral instruments in disco music.
