Artist Bio:
The Sapphires were an Australian girl group active in the 1960s. The group was formed in 1962 and consisted of four Indigenous Australian women: Laurel Robinson, Beverly Briggs, Naomi Mayers, and Lois Peeler. They gained popularity for their soulful harmonies and energetic performances, drawing influence from Motown and R&B music.

The Sapphires achieved success both in Australia and internationally, performing for troops in Vietnam and touring the United States. They released several singles and an album during their career. Their story was later adapted into a successful stage play and film called "The Sapphires," which was released in 2012. The group's legacy continues to be celebrated for their pioneering role as Indigenous Australian women in the music industry.
