The Searchers were a British rock band formed in 1962. They were part of the Merseybeat sound along with bands like The Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers. The group's original lineup consisted of John McNally, Mike Pender, Tony Jackson, and Chris Curtis. They were known for their distinctive vocal harmonies and jangly guitar sound.
The Searchers had a string of hits in the 1960s, including "Needles and Pins," "Don't Throw Your Love Away," and a cover of Jackie DeShannon's "When You Walk in the Room." They were one of the most popular bands of the British Invasion and had a significant influence on other bands of the era. The Searchers continued to perform and tour for many years, with various lineup changes, before officially retiring in 2019.
