Artist Bio:
The Searchers were a British rock band formed in 1962 in Liverpool. They were part of the Merseybeat scene, along with bands like The Beatles and The Hollies. The original lineup consisted of Mike Pender, John McNally, Chris Curtis, Tony Jackson, and later, drummer Billy Adamson. One of their biggest hits was a cover of the song "Needles and Pins," which reached the top 20 in the United States and the UK in 1964.
The Searchers were known for their vocal harmonies and jangly guitar sound, which influenced many other bands in the 1960s. They had a string of hits in the 1960s, including "Sweets for My Sweet" and "Sugar and Spice." The band continued to perform and tour over the years with various lineup changes. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
