Artist Bio:
The Shangri-Las were an American girl group formed in Queens, New York in 1963. The group consisted of two sets of sisters: Mary Weiss and Elizabeth "Betty" Weiss, and identical twins Marguerite "Marge" Ganser and Mary Ann Ganser. They were known for their dramatic and rebellious image, often singing about teenage angst and heartbreak. Their music was characterized by a mix of pop, rock, and R&B influences, with hits such as "Leader of the Pack," "Remember (Walking in the Sand)," and "Give Him a Great Big Kiss."

The Shangri-Las achieved commercial success in the mid-1960s, becoming one of the most popular girl groups of the era. Despite their relatively short career, they left a lasting impact on the music industry and are considered pioneers of the "bad girl" image in pop music. The Shangri-Las were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2008.
