Artist Bio:
The Shirelles were an American girl group formed in 1957 in Passaic, New Jersey. The original members included Shirley Owens (later known as Shirley Alston Reeves), Doris Coley (later known as Doris Kenner-Jackson), Addie "Micki" Harris, and Beverly Lee. They were one of the first and most successful girl groups of the early 1960s, known for their sweet harmonies and soulful voices.
The Shirelles are best known for their hit songs such as "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "Soldier Boy," and "Mama Said." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and were pioneers for female artists in the music industry. The group disbanded in the early 1970s but their influence on pop and R&B music has endured, with many artists citing them as an inspiration.
