Artist Bio:
The Shirelles were an American girl group from New Jersey that achieved popularity in the early 1960s. They are considered one of the pioneering acts of the girl group genre and were known for their sweet harmonies and catchy melodies. The group was formed in 1957 and originally consisted of four members: Shirley Owens, Doris Coley, Addie "Micki" Harris, and Beverly Lee.
The Shirelles are best known for their hit songs such as "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," which became the first song by an all-female group to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They also had other popular songs like "Soldier Boy" and "Mama Said." The group's influence can be seen in the many girl groups that followed in their footsteps, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
