The Shirelles were an American girl group formed in 1957 in New Jersey. They were best known for their series of hit singles in the early 1960s, including "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" which became their first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1961. The group's lineup consisted of Shirley Owens (later known as Shirley Alston Reeves), Doris Coley (later known as Doris Kenner-Jackson), Beverly Lee, and Addie "Micki" Harris.
The Shirelles were one of the first and most successful girl groups of the early rock and roll era. They paved the way for future girl groups with their sweet harmonies and catchy melodies. The Shirelles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 in recognition of their contributions to the music industry.
