The Smashing Pumpkins are an American alternative rock band formed in Chicago in 1988. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalist and guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, bassist D'arcy Wretzky, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Known for their distinctive sound blending elements of heavy metal, dream pop, and progressive rock, The Smashing Pumpkins gained widespread recognition in the 1990s with albums like "Siamese Dream" and "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness."


The band achieved mainstream success with hits such as "Today," "1979," and "Bullet with Butterfly Wings."
