The Spinners are a rhythm and blues vocal group that formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1954. Originally known as the Domingoes, the group changed their name to The Spinners in 1961. The original members included Bobby Smith, George Dixon, Billy Henderson, Henry Fambrough, and Pervis Jackson. Over the years, the lineup changed with various members joining and departing, but the group remained active and popular.
The Spinners achieved great success in the 1970s with a string of hits including "I'll Be Around," "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love," and "The Rubberband Man." They were known for their smooth harmonies and soulful sound, which helped them become one of the most popular soul groups of the era. The Spinners were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999, recognizing their contributions to the music industry.
