The Spinners are an American R&B vocal group that formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1954. Originally known as the Domingoes, the group changed their name to the Spinners in 1961. The group's lineup has changed over the years, but some of the original members included Bobby Smith, Pervis Jackson, and Henry Fambrough.
The Spinners achieved commercial success in the 1970s with hits such as "I'll Be Around," "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love," and "The Rubberband Man." They were signed to the Motown label in the 1960s before moving to Atlantic Records in the early 1970s, where they found their greatest success. The Spinners were known for their smooth harmonies, soulful sound, and energetic live performances. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999.
