The Stairsteps, also known as The Five Stairsteps, was an American family group of five siblings who formed a soul music group in Chicago in 1965. The group consisted of Clarence Jr., Alohe, James, Dennis, and Kenneth Burke. They were best known for their hit single "O-o-h Child," which was released in 1970 and became a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song has since been featured in various movies, TV shows, and commercials.
The group was signed to Buddah Records and released several albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s. They were one of the first acts to sign with George Harrison's Dark Horse label in the mid-1970s. The Five Stairsteps were influential in the development of soul and R&B music and left a lasting impact on the music industry with their harmonious vocals and catchy melodies.
