Artist Bio:
The Staple Singers were an American gospel, soul, and R&B singing group formed in 1948 by patriarch Roebuck "Pops" Staples. The group originally consisted of Roebuck and his children Cleotha, Pervis, and Mavis Staples. They are best known for their socially-conscious gospel and soul music that became a soundtrack for the civil rights movement in the 1960s and 1970s.
The Staple Singers' music blended gospel, R&B, and soul to create a unique sound that resonated with audiences across different genres. Some of their most popular hits include "Respect Yourself," "I'll Take You There," and "Let's Do It Again." The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 for their significant contributions to the music industry.
