Artist Bio:
The Strangeloves were a 1960s American rock band, best known for their hit song "I Want Candy" released in 1965. The band was actually a fictional group created by the songwriting and production team of Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein, and Richard Gottehrer. The trio wrote and produced many songs for various artists, but decided to create The Strangeloves as a marketing gimmick to appeal to the British Invasion craze at the time.
The Strangeloves claimed to be Australian sheep farmers who had moved to the US and formed a band. Their other notable songs include "Night Time" and "Cara-Lin." Despite the fictional nature of the band, their music was well-received, and "I Want Candy" remains a classic rock anthem. The Strangeloves' music has been covered by numerous artists over the years, solidifying their place in rock and roll history.
