The Supremes were an American female singing group that achieved popularity in the 1960s. The group was formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1959 and originally consisted of three members: Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, and Florence Ballard. They were signed to Motown Records and quickly became known for their unique blend of doo-wop, pop, and R&B music.
The Supremes became one of the most successful musical acts of the 1960s, with a string of hit singles including "Baby Love," "Stop! In the Name of Love," and "You Can't Hurry Love." They were the most commercially successful Motown act and are often referred to as the "Sweethearts of Motown." The group's lead singer, Diana Ross, eventually left to pursue a solo career in 1970, leading to the eventual disbandment of The Supremes in 1977.
