Artist Bio:
The Sweet Inspirations were an American R&B girl group formed in the 1960s. The group was founded by Emily "Cissy" Houston, mother of the late singer Whitney Houston. The original lineup consisted of Cissy Houston, along with singers Estelle Brown, Sylvia Shemwell, and Myrna Smith. The Sweet Inspirations gained popularity for their soulful harmonies and are best known for their work as backing vocalists for artists like Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley.

The Sweet Inspirations released several albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including their self-titled debut album in 1967. They achieved success with singles such as "Sweet Inspiration" and "Why (Am I Treated So Bad)." The group continued to perform and record music, with various lineup changes, over the years. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2007 in recognition of their contributions to the music industry.
