Alan Tarney was known for his work as a producer and songwriter for artists such as Cliff Richard and Leo Sayer, while Trevor Spencer was a drummer who had previously played with artists like Gary Glitter and David Essex.

The Tarney/Spencer Band released their self-titled debut album in 1979, which featured their hit single "No Time to Lose". The band's music was characterized by catchy melodies, strong harmonies, and polished production. Despite critical acclaim, the band did not achieve significant commercial success and eventually disbanded in the early 1980s.
