The Time is an American musical group formed in Minneapolis in 1981. The band was created by Prince as a side project to showcase his funk and dance music interests. The original lineup consisted of Morris Day on vocals, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on keyboards, Jesse Johnson on guitar, Jerome Benton on percussion, and Jellybean Johnson on drums. The Time's music is known for its combination of funk, rock, and R&B elements, with a sound that was ahead of its time and influential in the development of the Minneapolis sound.


The Time released several albums in the 1980s, including their self-titled debut album in 1981, "What Time Is It?" in 1982, and "Ice Cream Castle" in 1984, which featured their biggest hit, "Jungle Love." The band's music and style have had a lasting impact on the music industry, and they continue to be celebrated for their innovative sound and energetic performances.
