The Time is an American musical group formed in Minneapolis in 1981. The band was created by Prince as a side project to showcase his funk and R&B interests. The original lineup consisted of Morris Day on vocals, Jellybean Johnson on drums, Terry Lewis on bass, Jimmy Jam on keyboards, and Monte Moir on keyboards.


The Time achieved commercial success with their debut album, "The Time" in 1981, which featured hits like "Get It Up" and "Cool." The band's music combined elements of funk, dance, and pop, and they became known for their flashy, energetic live performances. Over the years, the lineup of The Time has changed, but they have continued to release music and tour, leaving a lasting impact on the funk and R&B music scene.
