The Time is an American musical group that was formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1981. The band was created by Prince as a side project to showcase his funk and R&B influences. The original lineup consisted of Morris Day on vocals, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on instruments, Jellybean Johnson on drums, Monte Moir on keyboards, and Jerome Benton as a hype man.
The Time released their debut album, "The Time" in 1981, which featured the hit singles "Get It Up" and "Cool." They went on to release several more albums throughout the 1980s, including "What Time Is It?" and "Ice Cream Castle." The band was known for their energetic live performances and unique blend of funk, soul, and pop music. Despite various lineup changes over the years, The Time has remained a popular and influential group in the music industry.
