The Tornadoes were an American surf rock band formed in 1960 in Redlands, California. The band is best known for their instrumental track "Bustin' Surfboards," which was released in 1962 and became a surf rock classic. The Tornadoes were one of the pioneering bands in the surf music genre, with their energetic and fast-paced guitar-driven sound capturing the essence of the surfing culture of the 1960s.
Despite their initial success, The Tornadoes disbanded in 1966 after releasing several singles and an album. However, "Bustin' Surfboards" has since been featured in numerous surf and skateboarding films, as well as compilation albums, cementing The Tornadoes' legacy as influential figures in the surf rock genre.
