Artist Bio:
The Toys were an American pop girl group from Jamaica, New York, formed in 1961. The group consisted of Barbara Harris, Barbara Parritt (later replaced by June Montiero), and Betty Stokes. They were discovered by songwriters Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell, who helped them secure a recording contract with DynoVoice Records.
In 1965, The Toys achieved commercial success with their hit single "A Lover's Concerto," which reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was a reworking of Johann Sebastian Bach's "Minuet in G major" and became their signature tune. The group released a few more singles and albums throughout the 1960s but did not replicate the success of "A Lover's Concerto." The Toys disbanded in the early 1970s, but their music continues to be remembered as part of the 1960s pop music landscape.
