The Trammps were an American disco and soul band formed in Philadelphia in 1972. The group's lineup consisted of lead vocalist Jimmy Ellis, Harold Wade, Stanley Wade, and Earl Young. They are best known for their hit song "Disco Inferno," which became a disco anthem and was featured on the soundtrack of the film "Saturday Night Fever." The song reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1978.
The Trammps' music was characterized by its high-energy vocals, lush orchestration, and infectious dance beats. They released several albums throughout the 1970s and continued to perform and tour until the early 2000s. The Trammps were inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2005 in recognition of their contributions to the disco genre.
