Artist Bio

Artist Bio:
The Trashmen were an American rock band formed in 1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band consisted of Tony Andreason on lead guitar, Dal Winslow on rhythm guitar, Steve Wahrer on drums and vocals, and Bob Reed on bass guitar. They are best known for their hit single "Surfin' Bird," released in 1963, which reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song is a combination of two R&B hits by The Rivingtons, "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" and "The Bird's the Word."

Despite the success of "Surfin' Bird," The Trashmen were unable to replicate its popularity with subsequent releases. They continued to perform and record music throughout the 1960s before disbanding in 1967. The Trashmen have since achieved cult status among fans of surf rock and garage rock music, and "Surfin' Bird" remains a popular and iconic song in rock and roll history.
