The Turtles were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalists Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, guitarist Al Nichol, bassist Jim Pons, and drummer Don Murray. The Turtles are best known for their 1967 hit single "Happy Together," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song became an anthem of the era and is considered one of the quintessential pop/rock songs of the 1960s.

In addition to "Happy Together," The Turtles had other chart-topping hits, including "She'd Rather Be with Me" and "Elenore."
