The Vapors are a British new wave band formed in 1978. They are best known for their hit single "Turning Japanese," which reached number three on the UK Singles Chart and number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States in 1980. The band's lineup consisted of David Fenton (vocals, guitar), Howard Smith (drums), Edward Bazalgette (guitar), and Steve Smith (bass).
The Vapors released two albums during their career, "New Clear Days" in 1980 and "Magnets" in 1981. In 2016, The Vapors reformed and have since been performing live shows, including anniversary tours celebrating the release of their albums.
