The Vels were an American new wave band formed in Philadelphia in the early 1980s. The group consisted of three members: Alice DeSoto on vocals, Camille Gainer on drums, and Sophie Gault on bass. They were known for their energetic live performances and unique blend of post-punk and new wave music.
The Vels released their self-titled debut album in 1984 on Mercury Records, which included the singles "Private World" and "Look My Way." The band received critical acclaim for their music, with critics praising their catchy melodies and DeSoto's powerful vocals. Despite their potential for success, The Vels disbanded in 1986 after releasing only one album. Their music continues to be remembered and appreciated by fans of 1980s new wave music.
