The Vontastics were a 1960s American soul group from Chicago, Illinois. The group consisted of lead vocalist Bobby Newsome, tenor vocalist Otis Clay, baritone vocalist Tommy Moon, and bass vocalist Sam Hutchins. They were signed to the St. Lawrence record label and released several singles during their career, including "Day Tripper" and "Why Did You Lie." The Vontastics were known for their smooth harmonies and soulful sound, which helped them gain popularity in the Chicago music scene.
Despite their talent and success in the local music scene, The Vontastics did not achieve mainstream success and eventually disbanded in the late 1960s. However, their music continues to be appreciated by soul music enthusiasts and collectors, with some of their singles becoming sought-after among collectors of rare soul records.
