Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were an American rock band formed in 1976. The band's lineup consisted of Tom Petty (lead vocals, guitar), Mike Campbell (lead guitar), Benmont Tench (keyboards), Ron Blair (bass), and Stan Lynch (drums). They gained fame with their hit songs such as "American Girl," "Refugee," and "Free Fallin'." Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were known for their catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and a blend of rock, country, and blues influences in their music.


The band released multiple successful albums throughout their career, including "Damn the Torpedoes" and "Full Moon Fever." Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Tom Petty, as the lead singer and primary songwriter of the band, was also a successful solo artist. He passed away in 2017, leaving behind a legacy of timeless music and influencing generations of rock musicians.
