Tom Petty was an American singer-songwriter and musician, born on October 20, 1950, in Gainesville, Florida. He was best known as the lead vocalist of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, a rock band formed in 1976. The band gained widespread popularity with hits such as "American Girl," "Free Fallin'," and "I Won't Back Down."


Throughout his career, Tom Petty released several successful albums both as a solo artist and with the Heartbreakers. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 and received numerous awards for his contributions to music. Tom Petty passed away on October 2, 2017, at the age of 66, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most beloved and influential figures in rock music.
