Tommy Facenda is an American singer and songwriter born on August 10, 1940, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He is best known for his single "High School U.S.A.," which was released in 1959 and became a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 28. Facenda was signed to the Coral Records label at the time, and "High School U.S.A." was part of a series of songs aimed at different regions across the United States.


In addition to his music career, Facenda also worked as a radio disc jockey in Virginia and later became a successful businessman in the real estate industry. Despite his brief stint in the music industry, Tommy Facenda remains a notable figure in the history of rock and roll, particularly for his contribution to the regional music scene in the late 1950s.
