"Hanky Panky" by Tommy James and the Shondells was originally released in 1964 as the B-side to their single "Say I Am (What I Am)." The song did not gain much attention until it started receiving airplay in Pittsburgh, leading to its re-release as an A-side single in 1966. Tommy James, the lead singer and songwriter, played a significant role in the band's success with his distinctive voice and writing abilities. The band's blend of rock, pop, and psychedelic influences helped them stand out in the music scene of the era. Tommy James and the Shondells disbanded in 1970 but left a lasting legacy in the history of rock music.
