Tony Orlando is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who was born on April 3, 1944, in New York City. He is best known for his work with the group Tony Orlando and Dawn, which was formed in 1970. The group's biggest hits include "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree" and "Knock Three Times," both of which topped the charts in the early 1970s.


Orlando began his music career in the 1960s as a solo artist before forming the group with Telma Hopkins and Joyce Vincent Wilson. Tony Orlando and Dawn achieved widespread success throughout the 1970s with their pop and soft rock sound. Orlando has also had a successful solo career and continues to perform and record music to this day.
