Tyrone Davis was an American soul and R&B singer born on May 4, 1938, in Greenville, Mississippi. Davis began his music career in the 1960s as a member of the group The Dukes before launching a successful solo career. He signed with the record label Dakar Records and released his debut solo album, "Can I Change My Mind," in 1969. The title track became a major hit, reaching the top of the Billboard R&B chart and establishing Davis as a prominent figure in the soul music scene.


Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Tyrone Davis continued to release a string of successful albums and singles, including hits like "Turn Back the Hands of Time" and "In the Mood." Known for his smooth vocals and romantic ballads, Davis earned the nickname "the king of romantic soul." He remained active in the music industry until his passing on February 9, 2005, leaving behind a legacy of timeless soul music that continues to be celebrated by fans around the world.
