U2 is an Irish rock band formed in 1976 in Dublin, consisting of Bono (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), the Edge (lead guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums and percussion). The band is known for their anthemic sound, socially conscious lyrics, and dynamic live performances. They have released numerous critically acclaimed albums, with their most successful being "The Joshua Tree" released in 1987, which included hits such as "With or Without You" and "Where the Streets Have No Name".


U2 has won 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other band, and has sold over 150 million records worldwide. They are also known for their philanthropic work, including their involvement in campaigns to combat AIDS, poverty, and promote human rights.
