U2 is an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 1976. The band consists of Bono (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), The Edge (lead guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums and percussion). U2 is known for their anthemic sound, thought-provoking lyrics, and social activism. They have released 14 studio albums, with their most famous ones being "The Joshua Tree" and "Achtung Baby". U2 has won 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other band, and has sold over 150 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists in history.


U2 is also known for their philanthropic work, including their involvement in campaigns such as Live Aid, Amnesty International, and the ONE Campaign. Bono, the band's lead vocalist, is particularly recognized for his activism in fighting poverty and disease in Africa.
