U2 is an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 1976. The band consists of Bono (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), the Edge (lead guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums and percussion). U2 is known for their anthemic sound, socially conscious lyrics, and grandiose live performances.
U2's debut album, "Boy," was released in 1980, and they gained international fame with their fifth album, "The Joshua Tree," in 1987. The album featured hits such as "With or Without You" and "Where the Streets Have No Name." Throughout their career, U2 has won numerous awards, including 22 Grammy Awards, and have sold over 150 million records worldwide. They are also known for their philanthropic efforts, including their work with organizations such as Amnesty International and the ONE Campaign.
