Ultravox is a British new wave and synth-pop band that was formed in 1973. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalist and primary songwriter John Foxx, keyboardist Billy Currie, guitarist Stevie Shears, drummer Warren Cann, and bassist Chris Cross. They underwent several lineup changes over the years, with Midge Ure eventually taking over as lead vocalist in 1980.

Ultravox gained commercial success in the early 1980s with hits like "Vienna" and "Dancing with Tears in My Eyes". They were known for their innovative use of synthesizers and electronic music in their sound. The band released a total of nine studio albums before disbanding in 1988. They reunited in 2009 and have since released new music and continued to tour. Ultravox's influence on the new wave and synth-pop genres is still recognized today.
